The factors that cause students to make mistakes and difficulties are 1) The internal factors consist of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, 2) external factors consist of family, community, and school environment. Results showed students who have misconceptions of 41.38%, 72.41% fault principle, algorithm errors 86.20%, 58.63% concept difficulty, difficulty principles 93.10%, 86.20% adversity algorithms. To that end, the authors are interested in analyzing the shapes of errors and difficulties of the student and to know the causes through written tests, questionnaires, interviews to some students and teachers. In addition, the scores of mid semester they are still much below the minimum mistery criteria. This research was conducted at the VIII grade student’s SMPN 2 Padang in year 2014/2015.Īt the time of completing math problems, grade student VIII SMPN 2 Padang is still a lot of mistakes and difficulties.
